Four towns, one river crossing

West of the state line, reserve an airport transfer from Lenexa to MCI

Over the I-435 bridge near Parkville

Basehor, Edwardsville, Bonner Springs and Lenexa reach the airport the same way, so they share this page. Send a request for an airport transfer from Lenexa to MCI, or from any of the other three, and the office asks a local car company for a written fare per car, each way. You read it and decide. Nothing is reserved until you say yes and the company confirms the pickup in writing.

Sedan from $140per car, each way, up to 3 peopleSUV from $170per car, each way, up to 6 people

CE Travel Services is an independently owned booking office in Kansas City. West of the city, the ride is carried out by whichever company the written fare names; it holds to its fixed rate, accepts your payment and pays the office a flat amount for the booking.

Across the river near Parkville

All four places sit on the Kansas side, south of the Missouri River, and MCI sits north of it, so every ride from here crosses the water once. On this approach the car does it on I-435, over the I-435 bridge near Parkville, which is the western of the two bridges that carry I-435 across the river. The car drops you at the departures curb on the upper level.

Road miles to that curb run from 27.2 in Basehor and 28.5 in Edwardsville to 30.4 in Bonner Springs and 33.7 in Lenexa. At a quiet hour the drive takes 37 minutes from Edwardsville, 40 from Basehor, 41 from Bonner Springs and 42 from Lenexa. Set out in the evening rush and expect about half again on top of those minutes, which is worth weighing when you pick a late afternoon start.

Home pickups on the Kansas side

The car comes to the street address you write on the request, whether that is a house in Basehor or an apartment building in Lenexa. If the entrance is around the back or the house number is hard to see from the road, say so in the note on the request. If you tick the call and text box, the office and the car company may text or call the number on the request about this ride only; without the tick, replies come by email and only the driver uses that number, on the day, about the pickup. Either way, put a phone there that will be with you on the day.

A car with a ramp or lift is asked for on the request, and the company confirms it in writing before you say yes. Beyond that, a few small things are yours to settle before the car turns into your street, so by the pickup time have these ready:

  • Bags packed and standing by the door
  • A head count: up to 3 passengers in a sedan, up to 6 in an SUV
  • Your own child seat in hand, if you chose to bring one
  • A service animal mentioned in the note
  • The phone from the request charged and switched on

Coming home over the Parkville bridge

For the ride back to Basehor, Edwardsville, Bonner Springs or Lenexa, put the flight number on the request so the company can follow the flight; your written fare names how long the driver waits after landing and what waiting past that costs. The car meets you at the Commercial Curb, posts 3J to 3N, and the airport pickup at the arrivals curb at MCI page walks you there from baggage claim. From the curb it heads south and west over the I-435 bridge near Parkville, about 37 minutes to Edwardsville and 42 to Lenexa at a quiet hour. If you ticked the call and text box, the company texts you when the car is there; without the tick, that message comes by email. Keep the written confirmation of the pickup on your phone, and if the flight changes, tell the office or the company so it can confirm the new time in writing.

Basehor to Lenexa, figure by figure

Each place in the table carries a sedan figure and an SUV figure, both per car, each way. Each is where the fare for the ride itself starts for that place; the amount you accept is the one on the car company's written fare for your date and pickup time. On this page the word from points at Basehor, the nearest of the four, with a sedan from $140 per car, each way. Lenexa, the farthest, starts from $155 for a sedan, per car, each way.

That figure covers the drive, fuel, the car for you alone and the waiting time named on the written fare. Any gratuity comes on top of that figure; a company that charges one writes it as its own line on the written fare, and you see it before saying yes. Anything beyond the ride, such as a second stop, waiting past the time the fare names, the airport trip fee if the company adds one or a child seat if the company charges for it, shows up as its own line in the written fare. Every one of the 40 places is listed on the airport transfer rates to MCI per car page, and each figure stays the same in every week of the year.

Before you say yes, the company's fixed rate for your ride arrives by email, line by line, and once you accept it the rate holds. Until then you can withdraw the request at any time and owe nothing; after your yes, the company's own cancellation terms apply, and they are printed on that written fare, so you read them before you agree. Leaving from an address near the river downtown instead? The downtown Kansas City airport transfer to MCI page follows the route over the Buck O'Neil Bridge on US-169.

Put the request in writing

A page about one bridge ends with the request because the next step is yours. Send it as soon as you know the flight. What comes back first is a written fare by email, and after your yes, the company's confirmation of the pickup.

Free quote, no obligation: the car company's fixed rate comes back in writing before anything is booked, and no card number is asked for. Sending this asks the office for a written fare from a local car company and, once you say yes, to reserve the ride with that company; nothing is held in your name until that company confirms it to you in writing. Sending accepts the terms of a request and the privacy page.
